I am writing today to remember my friend Rod Johnson. Rod passed in April, much too young, after suffering from health issues. I wanted to touch on some of the community service, most of it unrecognized, that Rod and his companies provided over his many years. Don't rush wrong Farm Bill
Recently, I joined other National Farmers Union leaders in meetings with the House Ag and Senate Ag committees about each of their versions of the 2024 Farm Bill. Based on those discussions, a tight timeline, and the need for modifications to both versions, I’m not optimistic for the passage of a 2024 Farm Bill but foresee another extension.

After over four decades of coaching, long-time Polson tennis coach Donna Hislop was named Assistant Coach of the Year by the Montana Coaches Association.
PEO chapter awards memorial scholarships
Chapter AI of Polson PEO (Philanthropic Education Organization for women) presented a bouquet of Marguerite daisies and a certificate of achievement to two AI Memorial Scholarship winners during Senior Signing Day, May 20 at Polson High School. Isabel Seeley and Hannah Simpson were each awarded a $1,000 academic scholarship.

As St. Ignatius High School Principal Shawn Hendrickson bid farewell to 32 graduates Saturday afternoon, he told the audience that this year’s crop had reeled in $1,147,000 in scholarships. “Valley-wide, statewide, nationwide – those are astounding numbers,” he said.
