Wreck takes life of St. Ignatius man
ST. IGNATIUS - A rollover wreck took the life of St. Ignatius resident Ronald W. Hout, 59, in the early morning hours of Wednesday, July 28. Hout was westbound on Dublin Gulch Road about one mile west of U.S. 93 at a high rate of speed, according to Montana Highway Patrol Officer Mike Gehl, when Hout's vehicle entered the right-side barrow pit, flipped end over end, and landed on its top. Hout was pronounced dead at scene.
Both alcohol and speed were a factor in the wreck, and Hout was not wearing a seatbelt, according to the MHP report.

Commissioners' Log
POLSON - Today, Aug. 5, the commissioners will hold more public hearings on the proposed county budget. They are due to approve and adopt the final county budget on Monday, Aug. 9.
Commissioner Dave Stipe commented that the county's side roads through the western portions of the Mission Valley are gradually getting paved.
Each year, Lake County add about three or four miles of paving on its roads.
Stipe says he would like to see such roads provide safe alternative routes for the area's senior citizen drivers, so they can drive more slowly without creating highway conflicts and hazards.
"But we need the speed limits enforced," he said. "About 10 percent of the drivers go more than 50 mph on the side roads. These roads are unforgiving, there's nowhere to go."
Regular commissioner meeting days are Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
