Junior Golf tourney continues

POLSON - The 2004 Polson Country Club Junior Golf tournament series is under way and continues each Thursday at 2 p.m. through Aug. 19 on the country club's Old Nine.

The tournament is open to all juniors between 6 and 14 years of age. Sign up by 1:30 p.m. Parents are encouraged to walk along as markers for the groups.

Boys and Girls Club offers tennis instruction

RONAN - The Boys and Girls Club of the Flathead Reservation and Lake County, in partnership with the Mission Valley Tennis Association and the Montana Tennis Association, is bringing a Tennis Across Montana instructor to Ronan.

The program started Aug. 4, and ends Thursday, Aug. 12. Instruction will take place weekdays at the Ronan High School tennis courts and is open to youth ages 6-18 and community adults. The program is designed to teach participants how to play tennis. Players with experience will develop new skills and strengthen existing skills. Racquets and tennis balls will be provided. for participants to use during the program. The program is included in Club membership for members, for non-club members and participating adults, there is a $20 fee.

Mission schedules fall practices

ST. IGNATIUS - Mission High School fall sports practices begin with two-a-days on Aug. 16.

Football practices are from 7-9 a.m. and 6-8 p.m. Players should bring cleats, shorts, tee shirts and sweats to the first practices. Equipment will be issued at the first practice.

Volleyball practices will be held 8-10 a.m. and 4:30-6 p.m. in the gym. Players should bring gym shoes, shorts and tee shirts to the first practice.

Polson sports meeting is Aug. 12

POLSON - Polson High School will hold a parent and athlete meeting next week for all students in grades 9 -12 who are interested in playing fall sports. The meeting is scheduled for Thursday, Aug. 12 at 7 p.m. in the high school auditorium.

Students must have their physicals, school paperwork and fees paid before they may participate. Varsity football practice starts on Aug. 13 and freshman football begins Aug. 19. All levels of soccer, cross country, volleyball and golf will start practice on Aug. 16.
