Bread Basket needs fresh produce
Editor,
The call is out to gardeners in our valley to share some of their garden grown vegetables and fruit. The Bread Basket is open Tuesday and Friday of each week from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and will accept fresh produce to feed our needy families in Ronan, Pablo, Charlo and Moiese.
The vegetables and fruit will add vitamins and minerals to the staples hey usually receive. The pantry in Ronan has been serving an average of 140 families each month throughout the summer.
The Bread Basket received an $800 grant (Aid to the Needy Program) from the Diocese of Helena Catholic Church. With this gift, the pantry can purchase more food. Local citizens and businesses in the Mission Valley also donate time, food and money to help needy families. Our blessings have been good.
Thanks to all in the community who have responded to the donation and volunteer envelopes included in the June Ronan Telephone Co. billing.
Thanks again to the RTC for this insert.
New volunteers are coming in every month. The Bread Basket is grateful for their support. The Bread Basket board and current volunteers hope more people will think of this rewarding community service.
Fall is coming soon and hunting season will be here. Commercial wrapped game meat can be donated to the Bread Basket. Also, any commercially wrapped beef, pork or chicken is very welcome.
God bless all of your who are helping the Bread Basket.
