Many were prayers said for deck mishap victims

| August 11, 2004 12:00 AM

Editor,

I was up on Friday night and Saturday morning last week. I heard the original call over the scanner for everyone to go to the Diamond Horseshoe. I belong to a prayer group, church and Bible study group. I called selected members of each to pray that there would be no fatalities and minimum serious injuries.

I want the residents of the Mission Valley to know there are people who will pray for God's mercy for people we do not personally know. We also prayed for all the responders and the motorists on the highways that night. I realize there are many more pray"ers" in this valley than I personally know.

I finally went to bed with a sense of security, knowing the people in charge were really there and ready. I was impressed with the command center removing all victims within one hour. As a local citizen, I cannot say "well done" loud enough. Some days we do not all agree on how or what needs to be done, or even if it needs to be done.

Congratulations for training so hard so we all can live another day in safety and agree to disagree with each other.
