F. Boyd Leishman
WENATCHEE, Wash. - Former Ronan and Charlo resident F. Boyd Leishman, 81, longtime Wenatchee businessman, died of leukemia July 3, 2004, in Central Washington Hospital.
Boyd was born Nov. 1922, to Francis Hansen and Margaret (Kerr) Leishman at Wellsville, Utah. He spent his early years in Drummond and finished his education in Charlo.
He loved baseball and boxing and pitched for Charlo in the City League. He was a Montana state boxing champion for his weight.
On May 24, 1941, married Aurise Marie Dellwo in Ronan. He enlisted in the U.S. Arm in May 1943 in Butte and was honorably discharged in November 1945 at Ft. Douglas, Utah. Boyd served in he Normandy invasion and was recently honored with the Normandy "Freedom" medal at the 2004 Apple Blossom Festival.
Boyd made his living as a barber in Wenatchee for more than 58 years. He officially retired in 1985, but continued to treat his customers with the old time shavings and crewcuts at Bud's Barber Shop, his old shop, until June 23.
His hobbies were hunting, fishing, flying, RVing, and in later years, golfing. He also enjoyed creating woodworking crafts, especially birdhouses for his family.
Survivors include his wife Aurise at the family home, four sons, All (Sue) Leishman of East Wenatchee, Nick (Sandy) Leishamn of Wenatchee, Kenny (Cindy) Leishman of East Wenatchee, and Dave (Marilyn), also of East Wenatchee; his mother, Margaret Clawson of Charlo; sisters, LaVae (Harmon) Grossbeck of Idaho Falls, and Renae (Bud) Rowley of Great Falls; since grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Preceding him in death were his father, three brothers and a sister.
Funeral services were conduced July 8 in the Colonial Chapel of the Jones and Jones funeral Home. Interment was in Evergreen Memorial Park.
