Fast response avoids major fires on Lake Farm

| August 18, 2004 12:00 AM

Editor,

We want to thank the person who called in the two fires on Aug. 6 and Aug. 12 on our farm and the quick response of the Ronan Fire Department, Mission Valley Power and Tribal Fire Department.

Due to the storm of Aug. 6, a limb broke off a tree and lodged over the power line causing arcing and fire. Ronan Fire Department responded and Mission Valley Power was called to remove it.

On Aug. 12, a fire of unknown origin started along Old Highway 93, nearly burning into the grain field that was ready to harvest. Only the quick response of those who first saw it and fire departments saved the field.
