Polson Summer reading is beneficial

| August 18, 2004 12:00 AM

Editor,

My children both participated in the Polson Library Summer Reading Program this year.

My 10-year-old has been able to lose himself completely in a book for a few years now while his eight-year-old brother has been waiting for that book bug to bite.

This year my younger son was particularly motivated to win one of the great reading program prizes - and found some books that grabbed his interest.

As a result, this summer was the first time that after calling my younger son to supper, it was only when I touched his arm and spoke again, that he was startled out of the his book adventure.

To me, that is perfect proof that the Polson Summer Reading Program is an incredibly valuable series, and deserves our support and gratitude. Thanks also to the many terrific local businesses and foundations that provide the wonderful incentives for the kids. You've given these kids a gift for life.
