HELENA - The Mission Mountain U10 Cal Ripken All-Stars completed a 16-win, 5-loss and 1-tie all-star campaign ith a win over previously unbeaten Linn, Ore., at the West Regional Cal Ripken Baseball Tournament held in Helena July 22-24.

The 9-6 win over Linn was the first regional tournament win for the team, following a 7-2 loss to a fine British Columbia team, a heartbreaking 11-10 loss to Big Muddy (Plentywood), and a 12-2 loss to an error-free Idaho team.

The Mission Mountain team earned its way to regionals by virtue of an invitation issued following its third-place finish at the West Montana State Tournament in Townsend the previous week. Prior to tournament play, the all-stars competed in games from Columbia Falls to Hamilton, winning 12 and tying one game.

The trip to regionals was the first in many years for a Mission Valley Cal Ripken team. Members of the team included: Nick Crawford of Arlee; Austin Durglo from St. Ignatius; Steven Delaney, Tyler Delaney and Markus Hungerford from Charlo; and Dilan Starkel, Robbie Gauthier, Cole Noble, Zeke Webster-YaQui, Chris Clary, Dustin Goldsby and Austin Lily from Ronan. Coaches were Joe YaQui, Scott Crawford and Dan Durglo.
