Fall sports return this weekend
It's official … the summer is officially winding to an end with the return of fall high school sports action. Here's a summary of who is playing where.
Football
Ronan kicks off the gridiron season at home against Frenchtown Friday night. Polson opens at home Saturday night against Browning. Arlee begins the season on the road at Superior on Sept. 3. Charlo's season also opens next Friday at home against Victor. Mission, too, opens on Sept. 3, on the road in Florence.
Golf
Polson and Ronan golf squads opened golf play with a couple of informal tournaments in Ronan (Monday) and Whitefish (Wednesday). Both teams will open competitive play at the Libby Invitational on Thursday, Sept. 2, in Libby.
Cross country
Ronan and Polson don't open cross country season until the Libby Invitational next Saturday, Sept. 3.
Volleyball
Ronan and Polson open the volleyball season at Whitefish's Invitational this Saturday, Aug. 28. Also on Saturday, Charlo opens its season at the Drummond Invitational. Mission and Arlee begin play next week - Mission hosts Seeley-Swan on Friday, Sept. 3, and Arlee is at Darby on Saturday, Sept. 4.
Soccer
The Polson boys and girls kick off soccer season next weekend with two games at home, Sept. 3 and 4. On Friday Billings Central comes to Polson - the boys play at 4 p.m. and the girls follow at 6. The Laurel Locomotives visit the area on Saturday - the boys play at 10 a.m. and the girls play at noon.
