Maidens serve up Lady Bulldogs

ST. IGNATIUS — The Ronan girls basketball team used height, depth, and conditioning to overwhelm Mission Friday night 78-32.

Lauren Lynch keyed the Maidens' defensive effort until she rolled her ankle in the second half. She finished with 16 points.

Tarn Potter led the way for Mission, as the point guard had to break the press by herself several times, dribbling between two defenders. Potter had 11 points.

But at times Ronan seemed to swarm Mission with their pressure defense, leading to easy baskets at the other end. Ronan would substitute up to four players per stoppage while Mission just didn't have the depth.

"Even if you start off on the bench you get a lot of experience in this system," said Annie McDonald, an outside shooter who stroked a couple of three-point baskets in the second half.

"Our team goes 11 deep and all of them can play," reiterated Ronan coach Dave Paisley. "We really worked a lot on finishing our fast break and our man-to— man defense. I was pleased because we shut their best two players down."

The Lady Bulldogs made only 18 of 44 free throws in the physical game.

Ronan kept their season perfect the next night at Frenchtown, beating the Broncs 64-40 with a dominating rebounding effort.
