Kent J. Horton
RONAN - Kent James (Kenny) Horton was born on Aug. 3, 1966, in Denver. At the age of eight days he was placed with foster parents, Hubert and Ruth Horton in Steamboat Springs, Colo. and lived with them the 38 years of his life.
In 1972 the family moved to St. Ignatius. He attended schools in St. Ignatius and Ronan. He participated in many Special Olympics, winning several gold medals. One was a wheelchair race with the help of Marvin Camel.
He was disabled all his life, but made up for what he lacked in mobility with his sunny disposition and ready smile. He liked to draw and while away the hours listening to country and gospel music. His favorite color was orange.
He fell asleep in the arms of Jesus Sunday morning, Dec. 19, 2004, at his home.
His father Hubert, preceded him in death.
He leaves to mourn his mother, Ruth Horton, of St. Ignatius; sisters Laneta and Gene Penninger of Mt. Vernon, Wash., Glenna and Richard Horton, Bremerton, Wash., Beth and Larry Krein, St. Ignatius, and Debbie and Robin Grussling of Spokane; seven nieces, six nephews, 11 great-nieces and nephews, and a multitude of relatives and friends.
He was a member of the Ronan Seventh Day Adventist Church. Services were held on Dec. 23 with interment following at the Calvary Cemetery in Ronan.
