Keep parked cars off parade route
Editor,
I spent the Fourth of July holiday weekend in Polson with my family. I have visited Polson a couple of time and I always enjoy my visits.
My grandparents have lived in Polson for many years. They enjoy the Fourth of July parade every year, but this year was a different story.
My grandparents brought their lawn chairs to sit on the sidewalks as they have every year, but they were not able to see anything because of the cars that were parked on the street. The children waiting for candy to be thrown could easily have been hurt being that close to the street.
There were no signs asking people not to park in the street nor were there any policeman asking people to move their cars.
I personally believe that more could have been done to keep people from parking their cars on the street and obstructing the view of people watching safely from the sidewalk.
I urge the police department and the city of Polson to find a way to keep the street free from cars in order to ensure that all people of all ages can enjoy the parade safely.
