Editor,
I think the cartoon in the July 22 Leader is in poor taste.
Habitat for Humanity is a non-profit organization that helps families reach their dream of a decent place to call home.
Lack of information or misinformation are the biggest causes of opposition.
A myth is that affordable housing reduces property values. The truth is that because Habitat houses are built with donated materials and volunteer labor, and they are typically appraised for more than actual cost Consequently, they often increase property value in the neighborhood.
Donations of time, money and materials truly make a difference. They provide those in need with the opportunity to live in safe, decent affordable homes.
