George A. Brown
POLSON - George A. Brown, 87, of Polson died July 19, 2004 in Polson.
George was born on April 18, 1917, in Silvis, Ill., to James E. and Bernice (Moore) Brown. He grew up and attended schools in Silvis. After graduating from high school in Silvis, George moved to South Pasadena, Calif., with his family.
He enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Corps and served in Okinawa in the Pacific Theater during WWII. After serving in the military he moved back to California.
He married Marjorie Welles on May 25, 1947, in South Pasadena.
George worked for Pacific Bell in Los Angeles for 30 years and retired from Pacific Bell.
George was active in the Boy Scout in California. He served as a troop leader for the mentally challenged boys at Peppermint Ridge in Riverside.
The Browns moved to Polson in 1986. George enjoyed photography, singing, acting, hiking and traveling. He loved to drive and the sportier and faster, the better. He had a zest for life and always planned on living forever.
He was active in the United Methodist Church, Mission Valley Choral and Port Polson Players.
He was preceded in death by his wife Marjorie, a brother, Miller, and son-in-law, the Rev. Joe Keys.
He is survived by his two daughters, Susan Bodenschatz and her husband Jeff of Santa Ana, Calif., and Sally Keys of Sheridan, Wyo., and five grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to the United Methodist Church, Polson.
A memorial service was held July 24 at the United Methodist Church, Polson, with the Rev. Russ Barber officiating.
Interment was in Lakeview Cemetery,
