Kathryn Emily Schall Doherty

ST. IGNATIUS - Kathryn Emily Schall Doherty, 80, of St. Ignatius died of natural causes July 24, 2004, at St. Luke Extended Care Facility, Ronan.

Kathryn was born Feb. 8, 1914, in Ravalli to William (Ed) Schall and Eva Kunkle. Kathryn was raised in Pennsylvania. After her mother's death she returned to Montana as a young adult.

She graduated from St. Patrick School of Nursing in Missoula and became a public health nurse. Here first job was in Fort Benton. She joined the Army and was a nurse during World War II in the South Pacific.

In 1940 Kay married Robert W. (Bud) Doherty in Fort Lewis and they resided in Tacoma for many years where she was a public health nurse at Army basis and in some of the Tacoma schools. After her retirement she and Bud moved to Arlee where they made their residence on the old Ed Schall ranch.

Preceding her in death were both parents, her stepmother, Anna; sister, Frances Sullivan, and a brother, Billy Schall.

She is survived by her sisters, Rebecca Harding of Arlee, Cleo Lytle of Tucson, Sidney Powell of Arlee; step-sister, Virginia Olson of Polson; brother, Ted Schall of Arlee, and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will have private services for Kathryn at a later date.

Memorials may be made to he Senior Citizens or Arlee or to the VFW.

Shrider's Mortuary of Ronan is assisting the family with arrangements.
