Super 1 Foods employees honor friend, Russell Grant
POLSON - A friend will be missed.
Tuesday morning a memorial was set up at a Super 1 Foods booth for the late Russell Grant, 95, who died Tuesday morning. The booth has a photo of Grant and his wife, Lillian, and store employees placed flowers and a 'Reserved' sign to mark the spot.
"We always saved him a maple bar. He would come in around noon and talk with people," said Grace Farley, a baker at Super 1 for 13 years.
Grant would come in to the store do a little shopping then would get a cup of coffee and maple bar, Farley said. Grant would sit in the commons area of the store and could be seen chatting with friends or just smiling.
"It was his time to reflect and talk with people," Farley said.
Grant, who always parked in a handicap space, never used a cane or walker, according to Farley.
"One day he did not get his handicap parking spot and I saw a spot open up. I asked Russell if I could have his keys so I could move his car," said Farley with a smile.
Russell Grant, 1909-2004, a father, husband and friend, will be missed.
"He was the backbone of the family," Farley said.
