Dorothy eJean' White
TORRINGTON, Wyo. o Private family memorial services for Dorothy iJeani White, 75, will be held in Ronan on Dec. 4. She died Nov. 15, 2004, in he Goshen Care Center in Torrington. The Colyer Funeral Home was in charge of the cremation arrangements. Those who wish may direct memorial contributions in her honor to the American Diabetes Association.
She was born April 25, 1929, in Edina, Mo., the daughter of Robert and Elva Mae (VanSickle) Davis. She grew up and received her elementary education in Edina before moving with her family in 1940 to Dillon, where she received her high school education.
On Nov. 25, 1949, she married Walter iPetei White in Dillon and the couple moved to Salmon, Idaho, in 1957 where they ran a meat packing plant. They moved to Ronan in 1967 and continued in the meat packing industry.
Following the death of her husband, Jean sold the business and in 1974 began traveling the west coast before settling in Garibaldi, Ore., where she bought a fishing boat and spent the next two years fishing for tuna.
Jean then moved to Rockaway Beach, Ore., and opened iJean's Sugar Shacki in 1982. She retired and sold the store in 1997 and moved to Torrington in 2000.
Jean loved cooking, knitting and crocheting. She also enjoyed playing the organ and she loved her time spent with her grandchildren. She was a member of the Elks Auxiliary and the Rockaway Chamber of Commerce.
She is survived by three sons, Robert White and his wife Loreen of Ronan, Tom White and his wife Tracy of Arlee, and Chris White of Casper, Wyo.; two daughters, Donna White and Wayne Anderson of Torrington, and Debra Stofflit and her husband Frank of Dillon, Colo.; two brothers, Robert Davis of Whitehall and John Davis of Columbia Fails; 10 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
