Obituary - Rose Ann McCloud
Ronan - Rose Ann McCloud, 69, passed away Nov. 15, 2004.
She was born at home Oct. 5, 1935 in Wagner, South Dakota, one of 10 children born to Aaron and Mary Palmer. The family moved from Wagner, South Dakota, in March 1946 to Ronan where the family started a farm and their children were raised into their adult lives. Rose married Louis E. McCloud Sr. they later divorced. She never remarried raising her family alone with the help of a younger sister Betty Rose loved reading and being outdoors, camping, and traveling with her daughter and son-in-law, but most of all the love of her life were her precious grand-children. She raised her family alone when being a single parent with seven children was a new concept. Not only did she raise her own biological children, but her children's friends as well called her mom, or grandma. Rose was loved by everyone who knew her. She was a dedicated mother, she was always there whenever her children needed her and very protective of her children and grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents: Aaron and Mary Palmer, a brother Arnold Palmer, two sons who died in infancy, two grandsons, Amos Albert Eugene McCloud, Daniel Ray McCloud, one nephew, Darren Kuntz, two sisters, Laura Cook, Lucy Arlint and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
Rose is survived by her children, grandchildren and their spouses: Sylvia Aims Back and Marvin Gardipe of Charlo, Sarah McCloud of St. Ignatius, Louis E. McCloud Jr., and Geri Lehman,Charlo, Melissa McCloud and Harry Beauchamp WolfPoint. Also an unofficial adopted daughter whom she also loved as one of her own Joanne and Ben Asencio of Pablo. Also an unofficial adopted son Chris Carpenter, Pablo. Fourteen grandchildren, three great grandchildren, five sisters and their husbands and all her numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
The wake was held Friday Nov. 19 at Foster and Durgeloh Funeral Home. She was moved to Long House, Sat. Nov. 20.. The rosary began Sunday Nov. 21 at 8 p.m.
Rose Ann McCloud (Granny) was buried at the Ronan Cemetery.
