Betty Lee Mitchell McQuarrie Wallace Mohnsen

POLSON - Betty Lee Mitchell McQuarrie Wallace Mohnsen, 76, died June 2, 2004, at Coming Home Hospice in San Francisco with her family at her side.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, Sept. 4, in the Polson Community Church, 1814 First St. E. at 11 a.m. A reception will follow at 166 Bay Point Lane, Polson.

Betty was born to Raymond Maxwell Mitchell and Ruth Helen Lovinger Mitchell on Dec. 8, 1927, at Elmore Hospital in Missoula.

Betty was raised in Polson and attended college at the University of Montana.

She maintained close ties to the Polson community throughout her life. She moved to the bay area in Northern California where she became clothing buyer for Rhodes Department Store.

Thereafter, she made her way to Palm Springs, Calif., where for many years she owned and managed Wallace and Wallace, a women's boutique, on Palm Canyon Dr.

Betty will be remembered especially for her flair for fashion, love of entertaining, talent for cooking, creativity with her crafts and her extreme generosity.

Preceding her in death were her father Ray Mitchell, mother Ruth Kersten, and older brother, Bob Mitchell.

Betty is survived by her sister-in-law, Franky Mitchell; brother Jack (Ann) Mitchell; daughter, Tanis (Mike) Nelson; son Bruce (Sharol) McQuarrie; two granddaughters Tara (Jaime) Uziel, Lindsey Nelsen, great-grandson Micah Uziel, and dog Ty.
