ST. IGNATIUS - Mary Agnes "Aggie" Woodcock George, 62, began her journey home Saturday, Aug. 21, in Missoula.

A member of the Confederated Salish & Kootenai Tribe, she was born Nov. 21, 1942, to Leo (Michel) Conko and Josephine Woodcock. She was raised on the Flathead Reservation, and attended boarding schools including Flandreau Indian School in South Dakota. It was during this time she met a military man, married, and they left for the East Coast where she started her family. To this union, she was blessed with three children Guy, Shawn and Marc Hill.

After returning home, she added to her family a son, James Joseph "Jim Joe" Dempsey, and daughter, Teri Antoine.

Aggie came from a very traditional family and she always remained close to her family and many others, who are family in her heart.

She enjoyed traveling, (living at one time in California and Washington, but she was always drawn home), crocheting, reading and just being with her family and friends.

Aggie was preceded in death by her parents, Leo (Michel) Conko and Josephine Woodcock Peuse; her adopted parents Ken and Theresa Ness; a grandson; her sisters Jeanette Conko Torosian, Harriet Hammer and Geri Ashley Trahan; a brother Louis "Beaver" Conko, and several aunties, uncles and cousins.

Survivors include her children: Marc Hill of Philadelphia, Shawn Hill of Lewes, Del., Guy Hill of Polson, James Joseph Dempsey of Ronan, Teri Antoine of St. Ignatius, and 12 grandchildren including Cyrus Antoine, who she was raising; two great-grandchildren and one on the way; sisters Rosemary Grove of Polson, Jackie Conko Castillo of Usk, Wash., and Clara Bourdon of Mission; brother James McKee of Polson; many first cousins, who were raised as brothers and sisters to her including Dixon Curley of Ronan, Leenie Morigeau of Great Lakes, Ill., Ed Ness of Ronan, Bill Ness of Ronan, Janice Ness of Billings, LaVonne Ness of Ronan, Andy and Rita Woodcock of St. Ignatius, Virgie Woodcock of St. Ignatius, Dorothy Woodcock of St. Ignatius, Liz Pierre of Polson, Millie Conko Camel of Ronan, Helen Hendrickx of Ronan, Eneas Conko of Ronan, John Conko of St. Ignatius, Joe Cahoon of Ronan, Gary Woodcock and Dave Woodcock of Oregon, several aunties, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
