What a pleasant homecoming
Editor,
What a homecoming! I'd like to wish a heartfelt thanks to local law enforcement and the fire department for the parade. Throughout my deployment, I received a tremendous amount of support from the Polson Schools, the Good Shepard Lutheran Church, and from so many of the great people of Polson. It was a true honor to represent this community in Iraq.
As a soldier, I willingly and voluntarily went to combat because of the commitment that I've made to the army and to the nation. I was on a great team with a good mission, and if the truth be told, I had a lot of fun doing what I did. So, in that regard, it wasn't a tremendous sacrifice on a personal level.
The true sacrifice, however, was made by my wife Brooke and my daughter Lauren, who didn't sign up for the same commitment to the army that I did. They are the ones who showed courage and honor and I'm extremely proud of them. I'd also like to acknowledge the Rafters, Alliks, and Violetts, fine Polson families that helped my family out with so much during my 15 months of absence. There is no place like home, and there is certainly no place like Polson. It's great to be back.
