Charlo girls take first, boys tie for 10th

In Missoula last week the Charlo Lady Vikings track team tied Victor for first place with a team score of 86 at the Alberton-Drummond Invitational track meet, while the boys came in a three-way tie for 10th.

For the girls Amanda Murphy set the pace by taking first in the 200 meters with a time of 28.52 and finishing fifth in the 100 meters. Murphy also made her mark in the throwing events by winning both the shot put and discus. In the shot put Murphy tossed a 35-8 1/2 and in discus she topped the field with a throw of 107-11.

Charlo's Adri Hammond finished second in the 800 meters with a time of 2:42.16 and tied for second in the pole vault with a vault of 8-0.

In the javelin it was Charlo's Hayley Carr in first place with a throw of 111-11. In the 100-meter hurdles Carr recorded a time of 18.38, good enough for fifth place.

The Lady Vikings' Samijo Kain was fourth in the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 56.24. Kain also placed sixth in high jump with a height of 5-8.

Ma'rya Hungerford finished fourth for the Vikings in the long jump with a distance of 14-4 3/4.

Charlo's Anjelika Kelley had a throw of 28-7 3/4 in the shot put and finished fourth.

In relays Charlo's 400-meter relay team was fifth with a time of 56.24 and the 1,600-meter relay team won its event with a time of 4:34.03.

Charlo's long distance runner Timi Bick finished fifth in the 3,200 in 16:14.97.

In boys action Charlo was able to place in four events during the Alberton-Drummond Invitational track meet held in Missoula. The boys tied for 10th out of 15 schools.

Charlo's speedster Shea Sammons finished third in the 100-meters with a time of 11.8. The winner's time was 11.59.

Trey Sinclair finished sixth with a mark of 24.72 in the 200-meters. Sinclair placed fifth in the 400 with a time of 56.51.

The Charlo Vikings track team also compete in the Dave Tripp track meet held at Hot Springs High School today (Thursday) at 11 a.m.
