Prays for wisdom in Kootenai Lodge issue
Editor,
I live at 202 Sunburst Dr. in Bigfork, and would like to submit my objection to the proposed Milhous Development at the Kootenai Lodge.
Although there are reasons too numerous to mention at this writing I can come up with a couple offhand.
Most important is the historic nature of this property.
It is to my knowledge this property is listed in the National Historic Registry, and all these years has had the benefit of that distinction.
I don't see how it is possible to nullify that honor just to build "condominiums."
Mr. Milhous' statement that he is "saving" it from some other worse development is laughable and ludicrous. This is the epitome of greed.
There are plenty of people in this valley with enough "real" money who would love to own this property as is, and these avenues were never pursued diligently.
I have been a neighbor of the Rolfings for 28 years and although I respect the right for them to sell it, I am concerned of the outcome.
A great writer once said, "pave paradise, put up a parking lot."
Please listen to the voice of this community.
Is there a road that leads to a place where we all can take pride in?
Are "condominiums" the only answer?
Where does it end?
Are all good "ideas" palatable?
Why not develop Mount Rushmore? Who could argue the view from the top of Abe's head?
I am praying for wisdom.
