ST. IGNATIUS — Shirley Ferrel, 79, died March 26, 2005, at Community Medical Center in Missoula.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, April 15, at New Chicago Cemetery.
Vern Hubert Fast
POLSON — Vern Hubert Fast, 90, a long time resident of Polson, died of natural causes on Saturday, April 9, 2005, at St. Joseph Hospital, surrounded by his family and friends.
He was born in Derring, N.D., to Fred and Francis (Grilley) Fast on Nov. 20, 1914. Vern married Juanita Davison on July 18, 1941, in California.
In the spring of 1946, he moved his family back to Polson, building a home for his family. He was also instrumental in the construction of Linderman Gym in 1950, construction of the forms for the last generator at Kerr Dam in 1954, remodeling of St. Joseph Hospital 1958 through 1959, and site supervisor for the remodeling of the Lake County courthouse in 1975. He also built many family style homes in the Lake County area.
Vern enjoyed raising flowers especially roses, begonias and his pride and joy raspberries, and spending many hours on Flathead Lake in his 1937 Chris Craft.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Francis, his wife Juanita, and grandson Grant Simpson.
He is survived by his daughters Linda and husband Joe Mark, Judy Fast Carte, both of Polson, and Bette Jean and husband Dan Gull of Frenchtown; grandchildren Tiffeny Beyer, Terri Farrell, Tonya Walker, Raleigh Walker III, Bryce Simpson, Devin Simpson, and Jordan Carte, along with 16 great-grandchildren.
In keeping with Vern's, wishes there will be no public service. A family gathering will be held.
