Soldier's wife appreciates support
Editor,
On March 5, my husband Tony Buff was activated for deployment with the Montana National Guard to Mosul, Iraq. His first stop was Fort Carson for a few weeks of training before flying out of country.
Since that day, I have been absolutely amazed at the outpouring of support we have received from the community of Swan Lake. The potluck they had for Tony left him speechless and I have seldom seen Tony without words.
I want to tell each and every person that attended: Thank you so much for providing Tony with all the love and good wishes you gave him.
On March 28, Tony found out that he would have a couple of days of down time before leaving Ft. Carson for Iraq. Due to the cost of getting him ready to go, we were unable to come up with the funds needed for me to drive to Colorado. I was devastated at the thought of not being able to be there for him but had accepted it.
Later that evening, I was at the Swan Bar with friends telling them my woes when a couple of Tony's friends asked if I wanted to drive it they would help me. Within 15 minutes I had $650 dollars, an atlas with my way marked clearly, and promises of assistance if the truck or I ran into trouble.
Another person offered to take care of our animals and the house while I was gone, and within two hours they had me on my way. I cannot express my gratitude to the people of Swan Lake enough. Roper, Dillon and Jane: You have gone above and beyond. Thanks go to the Swan Lake Search and Rescue and Denny for the three cords of wood I didn't have to go get. Thanks for all of the assistance given from Joe and Jocelyn of the Swan Lake Trading Post, as well as Dave and Dani of Swan Bar. Each of you have managed to calm Tony's fears and assured him the world he left behind would not fall apart in his absence.
Love and God Bless each one of you.
