RONAN — Valerie Mae Haley joined her father, Clell Hudson in heaven after fighting a courageous battle with the devastation of childhood diabetes on April 4, 2005.

She was born to Clell and Virginia Hudson April 9, 1947, in La Canada, Calif. After graduating from La Canada High School, "Vally" was a successful real estate broker and developer in Lake Tahoe. It was there she enjoyed her many hobbies: snow skiing, water skiing, and flying her private airplane.

In the early '80's, "Vally" moved to Montana to raise her two young children and continue her adventures: fishing, kayaking, sailing, boating, cross country skiing, motorcycling and even sky diving. She was seasonally enjoying Montana and Arizona by the early '90s.

Valerie is survived by her daughter, Summer Ann; her son, Shane Hudson Haley; the love of her life, fiancee Robert Kammrath, and faithful companion, Frankie.

She is also survived by her mother, Virginia Hudson; sister Roxanne Vine and family; brother Tim Hudson and family; numerous nieces and nephews, and grandnieces and grandnephews, including a vast number of close friends.

A beloved mother, loving sister, compassionate daughter, steadfast companion and loyal friend will be missed and remembered by all whose lives she touched.

A celebration of her life was held Saturday, April 9 at the Love of Christ Lutheran Church in Mesa, Ariz. Memorials may be made to the Children's Diabetes Foundation, 777 Grant Street, Suite 302, Denver, CO 80203.

There will be an additional celebration at Val's Lakeside area home on May 21 at 3 p.m.

Vally never knew a stranger, never had a bad day, always had a smile, was game for anything; she was a true free spirit.
