MISSOULA — Vernon J. Azure, 48, went to join the ancestors early April 16, 2005, at St. Patrick Hospital.

Vernon had many talents that he loved to share with everyone. His passion for music drew him to the melody of various types of instruments. His knowledge included guitar, drums, flute, saxophone and a love for the piano and organ.

Vern had worked a lot throughout the United States and some time overseas. He was an engine conductor for Rail Link in Washington and after some time he became a journeyman carpenter, which led him to a job overseeing a crew that built many homes in Fairbanks, Alaska.

Vern loved nature and animals. He had a way with animals that made them comfortable and happy to have his company. Camping and visiting with others in the outdoors was a favorite pastime.

Vernon is survived by his partner, Lynette; stepson Troy of Missoula; two sons, Elijah and Uriah of Oregon; daughter Ciera of Missoula; brother Paul and spouse Mary of Oroville, Calif.; sister Anne of Dixon; brother Marshall of Missoula; brother Lester and spouse Tina of Santa Cruz, Calif.; sister Carla and spouse Freddie of Blackfoot, Idaho; and good friend and nephew, Robert Bigelow of Missoula; nephews Adrian, Freddie Jr., Levi, Che, Javier, Vernon and Cody; nieces LeAnn, Christina, Victoria, Rita, Cory and Ashley, and great-nieces Savonnah, Tylea, Diamond and Mariah.
