Judge Roberts is fine nominee

| August 4, 2005 12:00 AM

Editor,

President Bush made a fine decision when he decided to nominate Judge John Roberts to a seat on the United States Supreme Court.

Based upon what I have read and heard about Judge Roberts, he is an excellent judge and makes decisions based upon what the law says and not how he feels what the law should say. He respects the Constitution, holds it in high regard and doesn't legislate from the Bench.

It would be good for our country if Judge Roberts receives a timely confirmation and an up or down vote from the United States Senate. If this occurs he can take his seat on the United States Supreme Court in October.

As a former Chief Justice of the Montana Supreme Court, it appears to me that Judge Roberts is the sort of nominee Montana can be proud of. He will serve our country well on the United States Supreme Court and based upon what I read and heard about him, his decisions will be just and fair for all Americans.
