Larry Dean VandenBosch

BILLINGS — Larry Dean VandenBosch, 43, died of congestive heart failure July 25, 2005.

He was born July 5, 1962, in Boulder, Colo., to Joan and Jerry VandenBosch. He moved to Montana in 1968 with his mother and siblings and resided in Kalispell, eventually making their home in Billings. He received his GED in 1981.

Larry married Kim Berkner, Aug. 20, 1983, and they had two children, Nathan and Nicole.

They separated in 2001 and divorced in 2003.

Larry became a certified HVAC Type I, III technician on Nov. 2, 1994, working at the Sheraton Hotel, the Federal Building, and One Hour Valet. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and golf, but his true passion was cooking. Family and friends never passed up an invitation to enjoy some of the best cooking and barbecue with Larry at the grill.

He followed his dream of opening a restaurant called The Bayou, located in the Heights, eventually having go close but never losing his touch in the kitchen.

Larry is survived by his children, Nathan and Nicole, both of Billings; his mother, Joan Kostelecky; sister, Tana (Mike) Lehman, their children Chris, Gary and Dustin; sister Beth Johnson and friend Ron Davis; grandmother, Roberta Crawford, all of Billings, and many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his grandfather Lawrence Crawford, brother Dale VandenBosch; stepfather, Ben Kostelecky, and close friend Maria Lindell.

Cremation has taken place. A memorial service was held July 28 at Smith's Funeral Chapel, Billings. Memorials may be made to Big Sky Hospice. A special thanks to Larry's mother Joan for taking him in and caring for him during his illness.
