No apologies are needed for burn
Editor,
In response to J.B. Fargher's letter in last week's paper, the Ronan Volunteer Fire Department and the mayor of Ronan do not owe the city any sort of an apology. My family and I live on the northwest side of town and were not at all affected by the smoke and debris from the controlled burn.
As a matter of fact I took my children down to watch the fire a block away and there was no debris or smoke problems then. I commend RVFD and the mayor for all the hard work you do.
The controlled burns, I feel, are necessary to train newcomers and are a reminder and continued training for the expert firemen. Not only that, but they are practicing to save surrounding buildings from fire and most important, the lives of your family, my family and others.
The building that they burned down July 7 was far from a beautiful site in Ronan.
To my brother, a fireman with RVFD, the other firemen and the mayor of Ronan: Keep up the good work.
May all your future controlled burns be as successful as the one on July 7.
