St. Paul VBS was 'splendid success'

| August 25, 2005 12:00 AM

Editor,

Vacation Bible School at St. Paul Lutheran Church was a splendid success this year, due to the efforts of Jane Nicolaus, who served as teacher, coordinator, devotional leader, and play director. The emphases were on God as the only true God, trust in Him, and a life of prayer.

The adults/parents were blessed with a seminar on marriage and family, led by the Rev. Nicolaus. The final evening featured a play based on 1 Kings 19, Elijah and prophets of baal, including an altar and sacrifice consumed by fire.

The last event of the evening was the Great Montana Watermelon Seed-Spitting Contest. Misty Mendoza, Artie Mendoza, Lindsay Matkovich and Diane Matkovich each won a trophy in their age groups for distance and accuracy.

We hope to have the governor join us next year for this hilarious/auspicious event.

Rev. M.J. Nicolaus, Ph.D.
