Fredrick Louis Collins

ST. IGNATIUS — Former St. Ignatius resident Fredrick (Fred) Louis Collins left this world to the arms of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Nov. 15, 2005, at Big Timber in a car crash.

Fred married Sara Elizabeth Hudson in Maryland on July 31, 1954. They had six children, Iva Lee (Raymond Graves), Clifford Louis (Patty Clutter), Nancy Lou, LaVonne Elizabeth (James Oliver, Jr.), Patrick Allen (Shirlene Donohoe) Robert William (Paula Boyce). He is survived by seven grandsons, five granddaughters, and three great-grandsons.

Preceding him in death were his parents Harry Frederick Collins and Jeneve Schelin Collins; his best friend and brother-in-law Leo Collier; his oldest sister Marion Faye Collins Collier; his son Clifford and Fred's wife Sara both died in 2002, 10 days apart; his daughter Nancy Lou at the age of 5; his nephew Leslie Lovell, and his nieces Frances Mary Collier Ewalt and Stacy Collins.

Fred was educated in Eastern Montana and in St. Ignatius. Leaving here, he went with his dad to Kellogg, Idaho, living there for a few years, then moving with the family to Rose Lake, Idaho.

He enlisted in the Army in Butte in 1951, serving in the Korean War where he won a Purple Heart, Korean Service Medal, three Bronze Service Stars, United Nations Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, and a Combat Infantry Badge. He was also an Honor Guard for President Dwight Eisenhower.

Fred's favorite pastimes were fishing, hunting, playing his guitar, singing karaoke, and dancing.

Fred was living in Grand Coulee, Wash., at the time of his death.

He leaves behind many loved ones.

He is survived by his three brothers, John Paulson of Laurel, Keith (Pat) Collins of Osburn, Idaho, and Michael of Melstone; his seven sisters, Bernadine Lovell of St. Ignatius, LaVonne Williams of Pasco, Wash., Barbara Trotter of Grand Coulee, Alice Wynne of Phoenix, Cherie Pierce of Kellogg, Maxine Sebastin of Evansville, Wis., Rebecca Collins of Wallace, Idaho, and several nieces and nephews.
