BILLINGS — Betty Currie Abdallah, former Polson resident and beloved mother, grandmother, sister and friend died Saturday, Dec. 3, 2005, after a courageous battle with leukemia.

Betty was born in Laurel to German immigrants, William M. and Elizabeth Michael Sorg, on June 8, 1933. She loved sharing this same birthday with her daughter, Barb. Betty was the second youngest of six children. She attended grade school and high school in Laurel, where she graduated in 1952.

Betty received her teaching degree from Eastern Montana College in 1954 and moved to Bridger after graduation to teach elementary school.

While in Bridger, she met and married Bill Currie on Dec. 26, 1954. They were married for 33 years before Bill died in 1987. Bill and Betty had two children, Bryan and Barb, while living in Bridger. Bill and Betty had a farm outside of Bridger and Bill owned and operated the Bridger Insurance Agency. They were known for their beautiful yard and flowers and many people stopped to admire their work. Betty was an active member of the Bridger Methodist Church and many other civic organizations.

She and Bill moved to Polson and purchased the Polson/Flathead Lake KOA Kampground in 1978.

They worked very hard to make this campground one of the nicest in the country and were given several awards for the campground.

They sold the KOA and moved to Billings in 1986.

Betty married Bill Abdallah in 1989. They were married for 10 years. Betty moved to Missoula last June so she could be closer to her daughter.

Betty loved her children, grandchildren, siblings and friends very much and was so very special to all of them. She loved flowers and always grew some of the most beautiful in her neighborhood. Betty enjoyed reading, traveling, going to plays, spending time with her family and friends, playing dominos with her grandchildren, and attending their games, meets and programs.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Bob Sorg; and husbands, Bill Currie and Bill Abdallah.

Surviving are her son, Bryan Currie of Livingston; her daughter, Barb Christian and son-in-law Kirby Christian and grandsons Bridger, Carson and Jordan of Missoula; sister, Gerry Ungefug and her husband Elden of Laurel; sister, Helen Warhurst and her husband Harry of Chicago; brother, Bill Sorg and wife Janet of Laurel; brother, Herman Sorg and his wife Lilian of Billings; along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.

The family also would ask you to consider donating blood and/or platelets in honor of the many people who donated for Betty.
