Protest sign-up sheet irks shopper
Editor,
Amen to Mr. Bell's letter. He made a good point when it comes to the "eyesore" signage exiting from Wal-Mart onto Highway 35. There is no view.
Another good point Mr. Bell made was the condo garages. They are a lovely view, aren't they? To think most of those condo owners are part-time residents.
As I completed my Christmas shopping last week on Main Street, Polson, I was rather surprised. Shame on local businesses for taking a negative attitude toward the holiday season.
At each register is a "sign up" Wal-Mart petition sheet. Now, as I finish up the gift giving shopping, I was turned off by this gesture of holiday cheer.
Not only was the sheet there, the business clerk(s) had to point out all the negatives about the Supercenter.
I honestly felt like I needed to return my items and shop in Missoula or Kalispell where they gladly greet me, wrap gifts, and wish me a "Happy" holiday.
The one and only shop unique in its own way was the only business not Wal-Mart bashing. Enough is enough, local Main Street businesses.
You keep this up and you will be out of business, no blame of Wal-Mart. I believe word of mouth will make or break a business. Big or small.
Just remember to treat all customers as if they were your first and they will return for many more shopping sprees.
Keep politics for after hours. Customers new, old, or just stopping by do not want to hear or read about negative thoughts.
Merry Christmas, Happy New Year. Take time to remember the reason for the season.
