Did you complain when … ?

Editor,

To all the anti-Wal-Mart people:

I am very confused about your decisions on the new Super Wal-Mart. Did any of you complain about the new Crazy Mike's video chain opening up and putting out the mom and pop video store?

Did any of you complain about Super 1 expanding and putting in a video store that put Mainsail Video out of business?

Did you complain about Wheat Montana coming in when we have the local family-owned bakery that has been in Polson for many years?

No, you didn't.

And Yogi, you still are in business after Wal-Mart opened and it has a photo lab. Gee, people are still supporting you.

Do you realize that not everyone can afford name brands of shoes that you find at Jackie M's or clothing at First Resort? The people who shop there will continue to shop there and those of us who don't shop there still won't.

So, it doesn't matter if a Super Wal-Mart goes in or not. If you don't want to support a Super Wal-Mart, then don't. That is your choice. Please let the ones who would like it, have the choice of shopping there.

Do you people know who did all the electrical and refrigeration for Super 1? Maybe you should ask Greg Hertz if he supported Polson on that … They both came from out of town. You can ask Dave who did his electrical work and he will tell you who it was. Yes, they were from Polson.

Wal-Mart donated money to the aquatic pool for our town and they donate a lot to more than what you think. Maybe Safeway and Super 1 will have to adjust prices a little.

You say Polson is not big enough to support a Super Wal-Mart? Where are all the people going to shop who are moving into the six or seven condos going in — not to mention the subdivisions? Those are going to bring a lot of people to Polson. We need something to keep them shopping here.

Why do you think you can tell people what kind of business they can put up? Do you run the town?

Oh, by the way, I have seen almost all of you in Missoula at Costco, Home Depot, even Shopko and Target. But, oh I forgot, you don't have to support Polson all the time.
