Undefeated Bulldogs pick up two more wins
ST. IGNATIUS—The Bulldogs went for another straight win with two games last week making them 1-0 in the league with a 5-0 standing overall.
Arlee was Mission's first victory of the week. It was a hard won game but the Bulldogs slid by with a five-point victory.
The Warriors had the lead in the first quarter, 6-12, but the Bulldogs woke up in the second quarter with a 23 point gain to the Warriors' nine points.
It was close in the third quarter but the Bulldogs came back again to lead with a 21-13 gain. The cat and mouse game ended with the Bulldogs taking it, 54-49.
Gus McDonald made 29 points, Tyler Trudeau made 10, Logan Gordon had five, Casey Cable made six and Robbie Trahan and Cory Gies each scored two points.
The Bulldogs defeated the Trojans with an even bigger victory. Robbie Trahan scored a three-point shot to start the game.
Then, Tyler Trudeau took the ball for a lay-up and Gus McDonald started his magic for a 9-4 score.
McDonald came back again with a three-point basket. Logan Gordon put in his three points right before the second-quarter buzzer.
McDonald decided to take a full court run to make an easy lay-up. Trudeau went for another lay-up making the score 22-10. Cory Gies made a clean three-point shot to make it 26-11. Trudeau was having fun with the lay-ups and he had back-to-back layups to make it 30-14.
Arnold Torosian went to the foul line twice, bringing in four points, and Aaron Trudeau scored to make it 36-18. Logan Gordon scored and came back with a long three-point shot and then Casey Cable made it 56-24. Aaron Trudeau brought in a three-point shot — nothing but net.
Avery Old Coyote scored back-to-back hoops, making it 65-38. The pace slowed down but the Bulldogs kept the lead for a 66-48 point win.
The Bulldogs go to Eureka on Jan. 6 and stay home for a game against Troy on Saturday, Jan. 7.
