Richard F. 'Dick' Schaller

POLSON — Richard F. "Dick" Schaller, 57, of Polson went to be with his Savior on Thursday morning, Jan. 27, 2005. He leaves behind his wife Jane and son Damon.

Dick was born on July 28, 1947, to Leo & Lois (Elsner) Schaller in Madison, Wisc. He grew up and attended school and graduated from high school in Belleville, Wisc.

He married Jane Hanold on April 3, 1971 in Belleville. They moved to Denver and Dick attended Colorado School of Trades where he studied gunsmithing. They moved to Texarkana, Texas, where he practiced gunsmithing. Their son Damon was born while they were living in Texas.

They moved back to Wisconsin and lived there for eight years before moving to Polson in 1985.

Dick worked for Lake County as a rock crusher operator.

He enjoyed spending time with his family. They enjoyed numerous outdoor activities together including hunting, fishing, camping and horseback riding. He was very involved in Pathways/Tresdias and was a member of the Heritage of Faith Christian Church in Polson.

Dick will be remembered for his love for his family, his fellow brothers and sisters in Christ and all of his many dogs, cats and horses.

The family extends a special thank you to the Lake County Hospice.

Dick was preceded in death by his father Leo and his step-father, Paul Schanke.

He is survived by his wife Jane of Polson; son Damon of Helena; his mother, Lois Schanke of Belleville; a sister, Janice Lubcke and her husband Terry of Oregon, Wisc., and nieces Erica and Betsy of Madison, Wisc.

A memorial service was Jan. 30 at the Heritage of Faith Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), Polson.

Memorials may be made to either the Tresdias Montana or Big Sky Tresdias.

Arrangements and cremation were by Grogan Funeral Home & Crematory of Polson.
