Gladys Owen

Gladys G. Owen, 91, a resident of Polson, Mont. passed away on February 11, 2005 from a long battle with cancer. She is now with the Lord our God and with many of her loved ones before her. She will be greatly missed by all of us that loved and knew her now and forever.

Gladys was born in Malta, Mont. February 9, 1914 to Carrie Clifford Main and Lillie L. Jones. They moved to North Dakota. When Gladys moved back to Malta, she married Harry M. Owen on March 26, 1932. They moved to Charlo, Mont. in 1938 and had a dairy farm for a number of years.

Then they moved to the N. Crow area, to Ronan in 1955 and to Hot Springs where they had various rest homes and motels. Finally retiring in Polson, Mont. where they shared a great love for the outdoors. Both were very family and community oriented.

She is preceded in death by her husband Harry M. Owen and her two sons Melvin, Bobby, and also her brothers John, Kenneth, Clarence, Elmer, Clifford and her sisters Cecil, Beulah.

She is survived by one daughter, Joyce M. Owen and one adopted daughter, Trina L. Phillips, both of Polson. Three grandchildren, Crystall M. Morigeau, Shelly M. Christensen, both from Polson and Rusty Joe Deprez residing in Florida. Five great grandchildren, Ashley Morigeau, Elias Morigeau, Elliot Morigeau, Alexis Christensen, Damian Christensen, all from Polson. Four sisters, Claudia Marshall, Laura Adsit, Pearl Jackson all from Polson and Edith Phillips residing in Little Rock Ark. Plus she has two brother in-laws, Richard, Bob and honorary brother in-law Al Peacock. Plus she has many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday, February 15, 2005 at 2 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Polson, Mont. hosted by Pastor Rudy Ringhoff, with Pastor Rod Benner officiating. Pallbearers are Ed Phillips of Pablo, Rob Morigeau of Polson, Todd Christiansen of Pablo, Doug Duncan of Polson, Clifford Duncan of Missoula, and Jim Phillips of Pablo. Honorary Pallbearers are Gary Benner of Billings, Don Owen of Charlo, Ron Duncan of Polson and Al Peacock of Polson. Graveside services were held at the MT. View Cemetery, Ronan. A reception followed at the First Baptist Church in Polson.
