Ronan NHS students volunteer
To the community,
I would just like to brag on a group of high school students that have done a very positive activity with the first graders of K. William Harvey Elementary School. Ronan High School National Honor Society members went to the first grade rooms and read to them, played games, did puzzles, and just spent time with them. They had treats to give them as this is a special day, not only for the little ones but for the big ones too. I am always so proud of young people when they want to volunteer time to spend with others, not just to get out of class, but to do something worthwhile and character-building. I did not see one member that did not want to be there, but actually sat on the floor and had other children sit on their laps, and gave them time. Some of these children just need someone to spend time with them and pay attention to them. That is what these honor students did.
We hear so much negative about today's youth I think it is time to give them bunches of bouquets for doing this activity and for participating in a positive activity. I am very proud of them and so should you. These young people will also be working at the basketball tournament, stop by and say hello to the future's leaders.
Thank you,
Marlena Jensen
