Daniel J. 'Mick' Doyle

POLSON — Daniel J. "Mick" Doyle, 88, of Polson, died Jan. 16, 2005, at Evergreen Health & Rehab Facility in Polson.

Mick was born on March 11, 1916, to James and Josephine Doyle in Dillon. Mick grew up in the Centennial Valley and attended schools in the Centennial Valley and Dillon. He graduated from high school in Dillon.

He attended the University of Montana for two years and then the Great Falls Business College in Great Falls. He worked at O'Connor Funeral Home in Great Falls for a short time. Mick joined the U.S. Navy and was a pilot during WWII in the Pacific Theater. He was discharged from the service in 1945.

Mick married Evelyn Withee on Aug. 6, 1942, in Great Falls. They started ranching in 1948 joining his sister and brother-in-law on a ranch near Armstead. They sold the ranch in 1979 and retired to Polson.

He enjoyed golfing and spending time with his family. He attended the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Mission Valley Elks Lodge and was a past member of the VFW in Dillon and Polson.

Mick was preceded in death by his parents and his sisters, Nell and Margaret.

He is survived by his wife Evelyn of Polson; his children, Mike and Dolores Doyle of Aurora, Colo., Bob and Martha Doyle of Corpus Christi, Texas, Dan and Laura Doyle of Edcouch, Texas, and Margi Corey of Choteau; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a sister, Isabel "Tim" Lasich, and a niece, Jo K. Lasich of Missoula.

A rosary service will be today, Thursday, Jan. 20, at 7 p.m. at Immaculate Conception Church. Mass of the Resurrection will be held on Friday, Jan. 21, at 11 a.m. in Immaculate Conception Church with Father Gary Reller officiating.

A reception will follow the services in the lower level of the church.

Cremation and arrangements are under the direction of Grogan Funeral Home and Crematory in Polson.
