Pickup truck was vandalized
Editor,
The anger that burns just below your surface must be painful. Maybe a mob mentality fueled by alcohol lit the fuse. It doesn't really matter. I resent how you've trespassed into my attention. I wonder if you have difficulty peering into a mirror at the dull look in your eyes.
More likely you wear your ignorant fury with pride and bragged to your cronies how you smashed the heck outta my old red pickup the night of July 5. Bet you had a good laugh describing the shattering of glass and the sport of taking a fence post to the hood.
Well, good for you. After the beauty and calm of the lower Flathead you brought the reality of our world crashing back into my family's life. Odd, but instead of feeling anger, I felt frustration. Trying to find the words to explain to my seven-year-old daughter why someone would do that to us. The frustration in the scarcity of empathy for everyone's day to day struggles.
And as I stood there with sadness, wondering, now what? The opposite of your shallow cowardice and lack of empathy begin to emerge. Thank you, Christy Rhine, for giving my wife a ride to the Ronan police station. Thank you, Tribal officers, who helped us report the incident and made sure we had transportation home. Thank you to my father-in-law for coming and rescuing us. And thank you, Ronan Auto Body, for the tow and the excellent and speedy repair of my old red pickup.
As for the morons that trespassed into our lives, there's this thing called karma.
