Alta Ray Standiford-Kuehn
SEATTLE — Alta Ray Kuehn, 73, of Hot Springs died quietly of vasculitis in her home in Seattle on Nov. 15, 2004. She was born Feb. 25, 1931, in St. Maries, Idaho, and grew up in Hot Springs.
Alta graduated valedictorian from Hot Springs High School and went on to earn a pharmaceutical degree from the University of Montana in 1952. She married in 1953 and moved to Seattle where she began a family. For decades she worked as a pharmacist in the Seattle area where she spent time helping people in their times of distress. She truly cared for people and gave her time freely.
She loved life and always lived with verve. She showed her family the great wonders of God and all that He created. She brought them to museums and shrines across this nation. She encouraged her children and grandchildren to invest in life as she led them in scouting, baseball, skiing and camping. She taught them the value of education. She instilled in them the simple and powerful humanity of caring for others.
After her retirement she took to the road in her beloved fifth wheel.
She soaked up the sights of our country taking kids and grandkids with her from Alaska to Mexico. The trips made wonderful memories that will last for generations.
She is now with our heavenly Father and will be joining her mother Leah Marie Snider-Standiford-Streible-VonSegen, sister Della Emmert, brother Alvan Standiford and her father Ray Standiford, whom she never had a chance to meet as he died before she was born.
Alta leaves behind her sister Irene Maucher, children Paula Laumann, Neal Kuehn with wife Becky and daughter Alaine Crosby with Steve; grandchildren JT Laumann, Ryan Kuehn, David Laumann, Nick Kuehn, Alexis Kuehn and Shaylyn Laumann, and great-randchildren Alexandria and Jessica.
Graveside services will be held on Saturday July 23, at 2 p.m. at Lakeview Cemetery in Polson.
