Betty Dennis McNett

POLSON — Betty Dennis McNett, 86, of Polson (formerly of Malta) died at Lakeview Care Center in Bigfork on Saturday, July 16, 2005.

Betty was born on Sept. 26, 1918, in Spooner, Wisc., to John F. and Julia M. (Hanacek) Hartman. She grew up and attended schools in Wisconsin and moved to Sand Creek. She attended country schools near Sand Creek at the Lone Pine School.

She married Clifton Dennis on Oct. 10, 1936, in Glasgow. They lived at Ft. Peck during the construction of the dam. They moved to California in 1937 and lived there for 10 years before moving back to Montana in 1947. They lived north of Malta where they ranched and farmed. She also helped her Clifton run their Caterpillar business. Clifton died in 1971.

Betty also worked for the Anthony Company in Malta for 25 years. She later moved to Big Timber in 1973 and operated the City Club Lanes Bowling Alley. Betty moved to Polson in 1975 and worked for Anderson's. She married Melvin McNett in 1983 in Missoula and he died on July 18, 1988. Betty also retired in 1983.

She was an accomplished seamstress and enjoyed handwork.

She is preceded in death by both of her husbands, a son Larry and his wife Peggy and three sisters, Florence Ronelsbacher, Irene Dennis and Elavera Hubert.

She is survived by her son James Dennis his wife Marlene of Polson; two step-daughters, Eunice Newell of Boulder and Arlene Sparrow of Helena; sister Ethel Sheehan of Plains, and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 21 (today) at 11 a.m. at the Grogan Funeral Home, Polson.

Inurnment services will be held in Malta, on Aug. 5 at 11 a.m.
