Jean Delores Wolfe
SUFFOLK, Va. — Jean Delores Wolfe, 81, formerly a resident of Polson and the East Shore for more than 50 years, died April 19, 2005, in Suffolk. She previously resided at St. Joseph Assisted Living in Polson and at Oakwood Assisted Living in Virginia Beach.
Mrs. Wolfe was much loved and admired by her family. She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Wolfe; two sons, Allen Wolfe and Brent Wolfe; and her sister, Gayle Winger Sheneman.
She is survived by two daughters, Kathryn Wolfe of Butte, and Shelley Armstrong and husband Scott of Suffolk; grandchildren Lisa Bowen and husband Merle, and great-granddaughter Kayla of Bakersfield, Calif.; Sandra Lampe and husband Bill of Antelope, Calif.; Christopher Madre and great- granddaughter Emma of Central Village, Conn.; and Nicholas Wolfe of Polson. Also surviving her are brother-in-law Russell Wolfe and wife Patricia of Baltimore, Md., and various nieces and nephews.
Jean grew up in Salt Lake and was a graduate of the University of Utah and Salt Lake General Hospital School of Nursing.
She met her husband, Carl, during WWII while still in nurses training. Carl, a waist gunner on a B-24 Liberator, was transferred to a base near Casper, Wyo., and when she went to visit him they were married.
Jean continued her training and began her nursing career during the war, when Carl was shot down and was a prisoner of war in Germany.
Following the war, they visited Montana, and 19 months later, Jean was living in a log cabin on the East Shore with two young boys.
Jean worked at St. Joseph Hospital before beginning work at the office of Drs. Tanglin and Teel.
In 1966 she began working for Dr. O'Halloran and worked for him until her retirement 22 years later. She loved nursing and caring for people. She was a long time member of Disciples of Christ Christian Church and Mystic Chapter 53, Order of the Eastern Star.
Inurnment will take place at 11 a.m., Thursday, July 28, next to her beloved husband on the date of their wedding anniversary, at Lakeview Cemetery, Polson, with the Elder Susan Evans officiating.
Memorial donations may be made to Heritage of Faith Christian Church, Polson, or to a charity of one's choice.
