A 14-year-old Polson boy died in a vehicle crash Saturday night, and law enforcement officials are still trying to determine who was driving the vehicle.

Lake County Sheriff's deputies, Tribal police and Montana Highway Patrol officers responded to the scene at about 12:30 early Saturday morning, June 4, on Moiese Valley Road, 10 miles southwest of Ronan. Marcus Onesalt, a passenger, was pronounced dead at the scene after being ejected from the vehicle, according to Lake County Undersheriff Mike Sargeant.

Sargeant said several people fled the scene soon after the accident. Later that night, a teenager showed up inquiring about Onesalt at St. Joseph Medical Center, and was later arrested by Polson police. The Leader declined to make his name public because it's not clear what role—if any—he had in the accident.

Sargeant said the driver of the vehicle could be charged if they were somehow negligent.

"This could be a case of negligent homicide if it can be determined that speed and/or alcohol were factors," he said.

The Sheriff's office is continuing to look into the situation, Sargeant said. A full obituary for Onesalt appears on page B10.
