G. Barry Lee

CLAYTON, Wash. — Gerald Barry Lee, beloved husband, father, brother and friend died peacefully in his home on June 1, 2005, after a brief but courageous battle with cancer. Funeral services were in the also at the LDS Riverside Chapel north of Chatteroy, Wash., on June 4.

Barry was born on Nov. 13, 1941, to George Lee and Karene Eddington in Missoula. He grew up in the Mission Valley, attended local schools and graduated from St. Ignatius High School. His parents had a dairy farm near St. Ignatius

He served as a volunteer missionary for the LDS Church in the Alaska-Canadian Mission, before marrying his eternal companion, Susan Burnham, on Jan. 25, 1965, in the Salt Lake City, Utah Temple.

His life was filled with service to his fellow men in many capacities, including as the Bishop of the Clayton ward, and most recently as the President of the Colville, Wash. Stake of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

Barry was a gifted craftsman, and blessed the lives of many, especially his family, through his love and skill for creating beauty with his hands.

His surviving family, including his wife; nine of their 10 children; his two sisters, Zelda and Cheryl, and 31 grandchildren express their heartfelt gratitude for the outpouring of love and support from his dear friends at work, church, and community during and since his illness.

He was described by those who knew him best as, "a man without guile," and expressed his own feelings for those around him, saying, "I know God lives, and that he loves us, and I will tell you how I know: I feel his love through each of you. I know He lives; He is real. And I want you to know how much I love each of you."
