Legion Poppy Day was successful

| June 8, 2005 12:00 AM

Editor,

For making our Poppy Day a success, the American Legion Auxiliary of Polson thanks Mayor Randy Ingram for proclaiming May 28 as Poppy Day, Super One for allowing us to set up, the stores downtown that allowed our Sons of the American Legion (SAL) to go from business to business and hand out poppies, and you, the public. Thanks, too, to the ladies who helped, our SALs and Jr, Shirley B., Susan D. and Angie D.

The Poppy program has been part of the Auxiliary for more than 70 years. It has been estimated that about two million Americans wear the poppy to honor our American war dead and veterans, contributing over $2 millin for rehabilitation and welfare programs. Thank you, Polson, for helping us to help them.
