Look around and notice things

| March 30, 2005 12:00 AM

Editor,

At my stage in life I can't help but notice some things. As I go through my week and each week adds to another to eventually become another month, things happen that attract my attention.

I have noticed recently that the crude oil shortage always seems to coincide with the tourist season. Now I don't know if this is for sure or not, but it just seems that way.

Another thing I have noticed is how there can be an oil shortage when there are thousands of oil wells capped off east of the mountains. Someone said they are waiting for the price of oil to go up before they open the wells, but I can't say for sure.

Another thing I have noticed is the people who blew up the buildings in New York City are the same people who seem to control the oil prices. What's that all about?

I have noticed now that the roads are dry and bare, people seem to drive slower. I drive Highway 93 twice each day, five days each week, and it seems people try to keep you from getting on the road from the side roads. It may be just my imagination but it appears that people actually speed up when approaching an intersection instead of slowing down.

I have also noticed the time to buy winter things is when you don't need them, and that they don't seem to be as valuable as they were when there was snow on the ground.

I have noticed, too, that we seem to have far more animal protection laws than we do child protection laws, and that we don't seem to have any humans on the endangered list.

I have also noticed the beauty that is beginning to reveal itself in the land. Spring is coming and the earth is waking up. The sun is much higher in the sky when I get home these days, which allows me more time to spend with the horses.

I have noticed that this is a very special place to live and I am thankful.
