Arden Burnell Larson

JORDAN — Former Polson resident Arden Burnell Larson, 75, of Jordan died April 16, 2005, at this home in Jordan.

Burnell was born Feb. 15, 1930, in Walhalla, N.D., to Alfred and Belma Larson. He lived in Walhalla until 1937 when his family moved to Polson.

Burnell attended school in Polson and joined the Army in his senior year. He was stationed in Korea while serving his country. The earned the rank of corporal and was honorably discharged in 1953.

Following his discharge he attended Western Montana College in Dillon where he obtained a teaching certificate. While attending college at Dillon he married Carol Marie Brubaker in Polson.

Upon receiving his teaching certificate, he and hew new bride move to Jordan in 1957 and Burnell taught at the Spring Creek school in the Brusett area.

Burnell worked locally for area ranchers and moved his family to Polson for a couple of years where he worked in a sawmill.

Then in 1965, he moved to Simms where he worked on the Hamilton ranch. In 1967, he and his family moved to Big Sandy where he worked at the IX Ranch. Following that he moved back to Jordan and worked locally.

In 1978, Burnell was employed by the Department of Revenue for the State of Montana in McCone County (Circle) where he worked until his retirement and moved with his family back to Jordan where he remained until his death.

Burnell was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred Larson and Belma (Olson) Larson; his beloved wife Carol; and three children, David, Gwen and Jill.

He is survived by three children, six grandchildren and one great-grandchild: Carrie (David) McNutt and their children Erin and Ben of Phoenix; Chlo Winters of Phoenix and her children Daniel Lott of Jacksonville, Fla., and Melissa Lott of Winfield, Ala., and son Todd (Carol) Larson and their sons, Tim and Ryan (Shelly) Smith and their daughter Carly of Miles City.

He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and a lot of friend who will miss him dearly.

Memorial may be made to the charity of one's choice.

Funeral services were held in the VFW Hall in Jordan on April 25 with the Rev. Neva Rathbun officiating. Interment with full military rites was in the Pioneer Cemetery, Jordan.
